About

I have a fascination and love for history and Cornwall, probably because I can trace my Cornish heritage back to the 17th century and beyond. I love nothing more than creating characters that could have lived in the 1800s and going on an adventure with them.

I am related to the Cornish historian and author, A.L.Rowse since my great great grandfather was William Rowse from Tregonissey. His daughter, Julia married my great grandfather John Stanaway-Ivey and my grandfather was born in Bodmin. I have many happy childhood memories of holidays spent in Cornwall in St. Merryn. We always stayed at Treyarnon Bay and because of this, I have set all my books in St. Merryn, Treyarnon, Constantine and Padstow. I hope my love for this area shines through my books.

Ideas for my stories initially came from trawling through the West Briton newspaper and the British Newspaper Archive, so when you read about my characters, many of the tales I tell are true. True life is often better than fiction.

I love all the characters in my books and I hope you will too.
